چکیده

Abstract Background DNA metabarcoding and massive parallel sequencing are valuable molecular tools for the characterization of environmental samples. In forensic sciences, analysis sample’s fungal population can be highly informative estimation post-mortem interval, ascertainment deposition time, identification cause death, or location buried corpses. Unfortunately, data often requires strong bioinformatic capabilities that not widely available in laboratories. Results The present paper describes adoption a user-friendly cloud-based application fungi typical samples have also been analyzed through QIIME pipeline, obtaining relevant concordance on top genus classification results (88%). Conclusions availability run without command line activities will increase popularity

Authentication of forensic DNA samples.

Over the past twenty years, DNA analysis has revolutionized forensic science, and has become a dominant tool in law enforcement. Today, DNA evidence is key to the conviction or exoneration of suspects of various types of crime, from theft to rape and murder. However, the disturbing possibility that DNA evidence can be faked has been overlooked. It turns out that standard molecular biology techn...

Extraction of DNA from Forensic Biological Samples for Genotyping.

Biological forensic samples constitute evidence with probative organic matter. Evidence believed to contain DNA is typically processed for extraction and purification of its nucleic acid content. Forensic DNA samples are composed of two things, a tissue and the substrate it resides on. Compositionally, a sample may contain almost anything and for each, the type, integrity, and content of both t...

Assessment of DNA Extracted from Forensic Samples Prior to Genotyping.

Quantification of human DNA has been an integral part of forensic DNA analysis. Hybridizationbased methods such as Quantiblot® kits were used extensively in the 1990s. These methods fulfilled the need at the time, since their sensitivity range was similar to the genotyping methods in use, such as restricted fragment length polymorphism. Later, the development of robust and more sensitive megapl...

Current developments in forensic interpretation of mixed DNA samples (Review)

A number of recent improvements have provided contemporary forensic investigations with a variety of tools to improve the analysis of mixed DNA samples in criminal investigations, producing notable improvements in the analysis of complex trace samples in cases of sexual assult and homicide. Mixed DNA contains DNA from two or more contributors, compounding DNA analysis by combining DNA from one ...

Advances in DNA metabarcoding for food and wildlife forensic species identification

Species identification using DNA barcodes has been widely adopted by forensic scientists as an effective molecular tool for tracking adulterations in food and for analysing samples from alleged wildlife crime incidents. DNA barcoding is an approach that involves sequencing of short DNA sequences from standardized regions and comparison to a reference database as a molecular diagnostic tool in s...
